Finally Snow 2

Well school did get canceled yesterday, it was nice but I didn't have my ipod because we had to evacuate our school because there was a bomb threat we got to get out of school early but we couldn't go get anything not even our laptops. I got everything okay today but I was late to class because of my bus. Anyways I still need to post the pictures of the chicken costumes. I would have yesterday but I didn't have my ipod. I'm really excited for Christmas and today in school we are doing nothing really productive, I will post the pictures soon I have a volleyball reffing meeting tonight and then going to a friends house, talk to you later. I will post as soon as I can!

Santa Poem

Here is a little poem that I had to make in Language Arts class. It's about Santa because of the holidays! Tell me what you think!

Santa
Old, Sweet
Delivers presents to every good boy and girl, slides down the chimney, saying “Merry Christmas to all!”
Fat man, red suit, sack of presents, 8 reindeer and a sleigh
Jolly old man

Finally Snow

I know, I know I have to post pics of the chicken Santa costumes I have been really busy with school this last week. It's like "the kids have have off for 11 days so were gonna stuff them with homework." I mean it's hard enough thinking Christmas is 5 days away! I have been getting a day ahead of myself this week so I keep thinking today is Thursday. But the week has been going fast my second hour class is almost done then I have math which I like, I can just focus on math not be disturbed and forget about everything else. Well I was really going to talk about the snow that we have now and what is coming. Hopefully we will get having a snow day tomorrow but I will be a little sad because we have our cupcake wars in Family Consumer Ed class and we will miss that but then I have one less day in the week! Since there is a big snowstorm coming to Wisconsin we are getting the snowmobiles ready. It's suppost to start tonight and my gym teacher told me we have a shot that school will be canceled.

Christmas Time

Wow Christmas is almost here! I am really excited, I want an iPhone really bad but I doubt I'll get it. Anyways I have been busy getting into the Christmas spirit I am decorating little snowflakes to hang in my room this is the fist time I have ever done something like this. Also I am making little Santa costumes for some select chickens! I made one last year for one of our favorite chickens Mi Mi I became a hit! I now have made almost three more! I will post a picture of them when I get home. Right now I'm in my writing lab for Language Arts class and am working on my Theme essay so far so good but I am not good at righting this essay stuff I like to type whats on my mind like now on my blog about things I like. I'm really excited for my volleyball party this weekend. I wish there was snow on the ground because then we could use the snowmobiles. It's been to years now that I have gotten my snowmobile license and last year we didn't go to our cabin because we had no snow. I really hope we get a lot of snow this year, but I'm not feeling it. Hope you guys have a nice Christmas I know I will. I will try and post over break, who knows I might be posting with my new iPhone!

Deer Hunting 2

After a great deer hunting trip the only one that came out successful was my brother Owen. He shot a little spiker (2 pointer). He was really excited and I was happy for him. We had a couple people in out party see some but no chance to shoot. The most exciting thing we saw was a flying squirrel right in camp, he was there for 2 nights and the last night we just heard him. He was really cute and friendly! Another one of our members showed us an exciting app called Sky View, it shows you were the constellations and names of stars, even the Hubble Telescope and the International Space Station! It's an awesome app you should get it. I'm decorating our Christmas tree as we speak so I got to go I will post soon!

Deer Hunting

Hi guys, I think that this is the most that I have ever posted. Well I guess this is a new blog and I have only have posted a couple of times but anyways I have had 10 page views so far! Yeah that's not a ton but it's something at least, so if you look at my blog tell others to comment and look at it too! Now back to what I was going to say, I am giving you guys a warning that next week I won't be able to post well maybe i'm not really sure. But I am going deer hunting! I have been going deer hunting for 4 years now. It is basically a tradition, all my Uncles and dad's friends come up hunting with us. We stay at a camp sight up in Douglas county. The trip there takes forever but it is totally worth it! My brother my dad and me are the only ones from my family that go up, my bothers are still to young to go. We stay in tents and make all of our food, it is a lot of fun and I always look forward to going!

The babies

Okay I had nothing to do in Spanish and so I am going to post. In my last post I said that I got baby bantams . But anyways we got them towards the end of summer and we have a brown cochin, 2 black cochins, and a white cochin rooster. They are adorable the little rooster is starting to crow but he only crows in the morning, I can hear him when I leave to go to my bus stop. But anyways there really big now and so curious! Little beep is now with them and she as started to lay eggs a couple of months ago. That's pretty much all for now just got done taking a Social Studies test feeling good about it, that's it for now i'll post soon!

Winter

Wow I have not posted since SUMMER! I am always busy with 3 youger brothers it is always crazy I promise I a will be on more often it's just this year I have had a lot more homework! But now that it's getting colder out we have to get the chickens into winter mode. We need to have the water's under a heat warmer so that they don't freeze but the annoying part is that we put our hose away during winter so we cant use it in the winter, instead we have to use gallon milk jugs and fill them with water, take them outside and fill the waters up. It's such a pain especially that it's getting cold outside. But the bright part about winter is that we are HUGE snowmobile-rs! I got my licence 2 years ago, because we have a cabin in St. Germain and we take our snowmobiles up there and snowmobile a lot. Winter also means that Christmas is coming up! There are 52 days until Christmas if you go on my school blog there is a little sign or whatever that counts down until Christmas. Well I hopefully will post more often especially since we have new baby bantams and I need to tell you guys about them. Post soon bye!

Memorial

On June 24, 2012 I lost my beloved little rooster Kingston. During the night he was snatched away from his home. Due to family errors we did not close one of our little slide doors to our coop, and so during the night we believe a possum that lives under the coop got him. Kingston sleeps on the floor so he was basically a sitting duck. I miss him a lot and it is hard to not think of him everytime I step into the coop and his little mate milly is taking this the hardest she is so lonely without him. So I wanted to so rest in peace Kingston I will miss you so much and I am really sorry.

We will miss you little man <3

Turkeys Part 1

Ok, so I said that I would tell you the story about our domestic turkeys. We got to baby turkeys about 1 year and a half ago and 1 Royal Palm named Turks he is the boy and then Caicos the Chocolate girl. We knew immediately that turks was the boy because my mom said that he was strutting in the cage and that's why she picked him. When Caicos about full size and we let her and turks out she decided to lay eggs turks fertilized them and everything but when she first laid them it was about the en of October so it was cooler and one morning we noticed that she was gone. We looked everywhere but could not find her a day later my oldest brother Owen was playing football outside and his ball went under our trailer and sure enough there was Caicos sitting under there. I immediately took care of her and boarded the trailer up so she would keep warm I brought her food and water and some scraps so she would not need to get up but that didn't stop her she got up 3 times I think that whole time she was on the nest. There were about 13 eggs in the nest and we loved to just lay with her and cuddle and keep her warm about the 17th of November it's our annual deer hunting trip and we need the trailer so we finally had to boot her of the nest. We checked the eggs by cracking one but all it was, was a rotten egg. It was really disappointing and I felt bad for Caicos because when we got rid of the nest she would always go back and wonder where her eggs where. But we had another break through It was about beginning of June and during the week we noticed that Caicos was more in the woods and was looking around in the brush and piles of sticks. A couple of days later Caicos was gone and that's when we knew that she was on a nest for sure........... TO BE CONTINUED!

The Beginning

Authors Note: I have been trying to start this blog for a while but I wasn't sure what to say so I am just gonna say it.

My name is Chloe Krumenacher I am the oldest of 3 younger brothers. I could be your average girl but i'm not. My family and I have been raising chickens for 13 years since I was born, we have over 30 chickens right now, 1 turkey, (really 7 but there missing I'll talk about in another post) and 1 dog. I'm not going to name all of the breeds now but I will tell you that we have 1 "batch" of mixed breeds we had 3 roosters but we go rid of them because they were becoming a nuisance to the girls. Then we have another "batch" of black sex links. "Batch meaning, we get chicks around early March we keep them inside until they are about 5 weeks old and of they go to the coop. One the other side is the older girls since we have a double sided coop we can have two "batches." Anyway the little ones go outside and behind the coop we have a fenced in area for them to stay since my mom doesn't like them messing with her flowers. '

The babies that we have now are about 2 months old and the older girls are 1 year we only keep them for 2 years and then they go to the butcher. That is not a fun ride. That is basically my world tucked in the woods with no one to care.
