Ok, so I said that I would tell you the story about our domestic turkeys. We got to baby turkeys about 1 year and a half ago and 1 Royal Palm named Turks he is the boy and then Caicos the Chocolate girl. We knew immediately that turks was the boy because my mom said that he was strutting in the cage and that's why she picked him. When Caicos about full size and we let her and turks out she decided to lay eggs turks fertilized them and everything but when she first laid them it was about the en of October so it was cooler and one morning we noticed that she was gone. We looked everywhere but could not find her a day later my oldest brother Owen was playing football outside and his ball went under our trailer and sure enough there was Caicos sitting under there. I immediately took care of her and boarded the trailer up so she would keep warm I brought her food and water and some scraps so she would not need to get up but that didn't stop her she got up 3 times I think that whole time she was on the nest. There were about 13 eggs in the nest and we loved to just lay with her and cuddle and keep her warm about the 17th of November it's our annual deer hunting trip and we need the trailer so we finally had to boot her of the nest. We checked the eggs by cracking one but all it was, was a rotten egg. It was really disappointing and I felt bad for Caicos because when we got rid of the nest she would always go back and wonder where her eggs where. But we had another break through It was about beginning of June and during the week we noticed that Caicos was more in the woods and was looking around in the brush and piles of sticks. A couple of days later Caicos was gone and that's when we knew that she was on a nest for sure........... TO BE CONTINUED!
